<Comments by Masako Tsumura and Eric Shirai (Director)>
"Nowhere to go but everywhere" is the word we muttered like a mantra when the global pandemic began in 2020 and the visible world changed drastically. By chanting this, we were reaffirmed that our minds always have endless possibilities and freedom, even if we are physically in lockdown. At that time, the Israeli Embassy in Japan talked about a project of collaboration between Israeli and Japanese artists in memory of the victims of the Great Tohoku Earthquake, and it was time to visualize the rare true story of Mr. Yasuo Takamatsu. Takamatsu lost her beloved wife in the tsunami, but in order to face the great loss, he learned a skill of diving, dived into the sea that robbed and killed her, and went looking for her. I left myself to the endless flow of the tide, and as I continued my search, I found an unexpected healing there. As we live in a fragile era where we cannot see the future, we have created "Nowhere to go but everywhere" as a sign that reminds us of the resilience of our spirit, which is brought about by the delicate relationship between humans and nature.
