UP COMING
Event Details
The ultimate masterpiece "The Pianist", based on the true story of a pianist who miraculously survived Warsaw, Poland during World War II, is released in his first 4K digitally remastered version on December 1st. It will be released nationwide from Sunday (Friday) at Kadokawa Cinema Yurakucho and other theaters.
In 1939, when Nazi Germany invaded Poland, Władysław Szpilman was a pianist playing on a radio station. After the fall of Warsaw, Jews were forced to move to ghettos (separate residential areas) where they were forced to live in fear of starvation and indiscriminate murder. While 10,000 Jews were deported to concentration camps, Szpilman was the only one miraculously spared.
”The Pianist'' won numerous honors around the world, including three major categories at the 75th Academy Awards® and the Palme d'Or at the 55th Cannes Film Festival. This timeless masterpiece depicts a young Jewish pianist who is robbed of his peaceful daily life by the invasion of the German army, loses his beloved family, and wanders alone on the battlefield. This timeless masterpiece is set 80 years after the historical tragedy depicted in the play, the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. This year, the first 4K digitally remastered version will be released.
